Kite Horror – Pryde club Mauritius // Strapless kitesurfing

Tangle in lines with another kite in Mauritius, ok, shit can happen to everyone….

But, focused (at 9’40) on the dialog between the rider and the pilot of the rescue boat, I can’t help thinking that these guys are very far from a normal behaviour in the sailing world. That’s disgusting !

You cannot ask how much to get back to the beach and absolutely no way to make money on someone you have to help. In the sailing code of honour, you’re supposed to assist people in risky situation, and then, if the survivor is a real gentleman, gives you a proprotional reward to the price of his material…

So what ??? Many riders have desapeared, riding in One Eye, does it mean they hadn’t enough money to pay the rescue ??? And you do ask for money to rescue or how much to help me ???

Not sure what you are complaining about… looks to me like someone came to help you pretty quickly. Ok that cost you a few $ but you kept your kite and it saved you a trip out to the deep blue sea with the men in grey suit… if you have enough cash to go to mauritius and ride new gear I am sure you can afford a few $ for rescue… overall I think you should be rather thankful
and if you spent more time focusing on the wave than on filming yourself maybe that wouldn’t happen in the first place

Just annoyed by the conversation between the rider and the the rescue guy. No need to talk about money in these kind of moment when shit happens. The guy does his rescue job nicely and the rider doesn’t have to pollute the sailing spirit with his dollars. You’re right saying that he surely have enough cash for rescue, knowing prices ( sojourn, material…) also knowing that many Mauritians are living with a very small income per month, the rider should have give more than 30 bucks.
I saved several people and their material without being a professional ( kites, boards, catamarans, motorboats…). We never talked about money but be sure they were very thankful and generous.
