Strapless back side air reverse

The Move, secrets of a strapless backside air reverse.

Jump a bit upwind.

Push hard on the front leg flex the back leg as you would do to make powerful nose dive.

With the kite at the zenith, in the meantime turn your head back  and twist your soulders in rotation sense , give enough loose to bar pressure to be supported by your board. Strech front arm and flex back arm.

At half rotation, push on the back leg and flex the front one, pull on the bar with your front hand remained in the middle of the bar during all the movement.

Always watch where you want to go especially for the landing.

Here’s a Gopro HD2 video with Ian Alldredge at his homespot to complete the photos. He rides a 6m Noise and a 5’11 evf Rawson custom surfboard.

“front 360 full rotation”?? Using conventional lingo which stems from wakeboarding, this should be called a hooked-in, ole backside 360. Normally the term front is only used to denote an invert, which this is far off from. Frontside and backside are kosher terms, but this is a backside spin, which can be abbreviated as “front” or “back,” but this move has zero front’ish stuff going on. Plus, “360…full” isn’t that pretty redundant anyway? Sorry man, rant over. I just get worked up when I see trick names being reinvented, which confuses the public and reflects poorly on the sport — kind of like when kiting first started and every invert was either a front loop or back loop, following the not-very-applicable heritage of windsurfing.

Mr B is right… a bit rough, but right. Wrong title at first, I’ve got to apologise for that mistake (haste, rashness and bad influenza virus…) So we ‘ve got to give back a respectable title to this maneuver.
But sorry for the “hooked-in, ole backside 360”, we don’t feel that strapless kitesurfing is so close to wakeboard… “Surfing with a kite” is an evidence that strapless kitesurfing is a close relative of Surfing, where this maneuver is called a “backside air reverse” by riders themselves.
Criticism is good to go ahead and in the good direction. Mr B, your post is much appreciated, stay in touch with our website 🙂
