How to do a strapless nose grab front roll by Leonardo Loro // Strapless Kitesurfing

Now, you are the king of strapless backrolls…next step : nose grab front roll. Leonardo Loro, Brazilian living close to Sidney, Australia, sent us 15 snapshots taken by Humberto Almeida to dissect this maneuver.

1 Find a nice wave

2 Just before the jump, bend your knees and set your center of gravity very low, put your front arm down close to the rail. When you will grab it ,that will help you to grab the rail more quickly and you won’t miss it. Hold the bar in the middle with the back hand.

3 When you’re going through the wave, send your kite at 12 o’clock.

4 Once you take off, grab the rail with your front hand as quick as possible, then put your head under the bar and look under your back arm pit, that will make you start the rotation.

5 Keep bending your knees and try to keep your feet on the board and hold on the rail as long as you can. Wait until you make a full 360 rotation. At the same time, bring your kite down to 45 degree to keep the lines tension.

You can also do a down loop with your kite, pulling your back hand aggressively during the jump.

6 Just before landing let go off the rail and land with your tail board first .

The keys of the move are :  grab your rail quick , put you head under the bar and look under your arm pit, and hold the rail as long as you can.

Good luck !

Leonardo Loro
