KSP Mauritius days one and two

Chameau spot shot by John Bilderback on Day one.

Not far from a Chinatown spot… another shot of John Bilderback. Yesterday, after the riders meeting and many questions about rules and sailing priorities,  wind was not planned and yet…. 35 KSP riders, vacationers kiters, windsurfers training on two waves  : Chameau and One Eye… a bit messy  to catch your own wave, but in friendly mood.  First strips of flesh and broken fins on the reef…no serious damages.

Day 2.

The 2.5meters swell anounced was a bit bigger in reality, 3-4m on some set, according to some riders, in very light wind and strong currents making difficult upwind tack.

To avoid kite stall, riding full speed down the line was  required. At this game the local rider Max Bonieux (Mauritius) won the first heat in big waves.

In the second heat with Mauricio Pedreira, Jeremy Eloi and Guilly Brandao, Mauricio won faced to Jeremy (under his level) and Guilly who destroyed his kite in that wave :

Third heat : Airton Cozzolino Lopes and Mitu Monteiro .  Airton won with a 360 at the end of a wave in spite of backside-frontside transition of Mitu. Airton deserve it… the pupil seems to be ahead of the master in that heat. At the end of the heat Airton crashed his kite and did not took off again.

An impressive 2d day, remember that you can follow it in stream live here : http://www.kspworldtour.com/live

Mitu living the life,  waiting the big Tuesday.

Tomorow, women’s day !
