How to kitesurf: Board off Transition – Strapless – North Kiteboarding Academy

Watch as we show you how to do a Board off Transition.

This in depth tutorial is packed with loads of tips and tricks, brought to you by the all-new North Kiteboarding Academy. The board off transition is a great move to change direction.

The kite steering is similar to most transitions: slowly from 11 to 1 or 1 to 11 o´clock. To gain speed in the new direction dive the kite down powerful after landing. To start, step back and slowly steer the kite up. With the kite above you pop the board off the water and pull the bar down for some decent lift. Kick the tail hard. At the same time pull up your front knee quickly – this will pop the board up high and make it easier to grab.

Try to grab the board right after take off. While you slowly send the kite over your head turn the board 180 degrees so you land going the opposite direction.

To gain speed in the new direction dive the kite down powerful after landing.

Let´s remember the key elements:

Pop of with the kite at around 12 o´clock Grab the windward rail with your front hand

Turn the board 180 degrees and land going the other direction.

Enjoy your ride with North Kiteboarding Academy!
