Trip to Pagudpud, Kingfisher – Yves Baudoux

The French F-One rider, Yves Baudoux sent us this report about his trip to Kingfisher, Pagudpud Philippines.

Our trip consisted of staying on the main island of Luzon in February and making a road trip from Manila to Pagudpud in the north.

We left Manila to reach San Fernando a very cool surf spot San Fernando. Very friendly and relaxed atmosphere at the line up.

Then we took the mountain roads for an epic trip to join the Cordillera heading to the famous rice terraces of Banaue.
This road from San Fernando to the Cordillera was magnificent but probably a madness. We did not count the landslides on the road if it was not the road that had collapsed.

We had more than to swallow the miles through Vigan to finally reach Pagudpud and his famous spot: Kingfisher!

Nothing to say, this spot of the end of the world is magic!
The Lagoon is very short and very shallow and you are directly in (the heart of the matter) or ( the action) !!
The wind is side to side-off and generally strong, using F-One Bandit 7 and 9m. You’ll probably need a 5m if you’re slightly built.
The waves on the reef are very powerful and can quickly take a solid size.
It is necessary, before going there, to check well the tidal heights because there are unfavorable weeks where the lagoon is almost impracticable.
There are of course other spots but Kingfisher remains the best.

The accommodations on the spot are amazing and the surrounding area is splendid and the beaches deserted.
